Hello! My name is Alyssa O’Sullivan! I am originally from Houston, Texas, but moved to Austin a couple of years ago when I decided to go to school at the University of Texas. I graduated in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Sciences. After graduation, I wanted to do something that I was passionate about, so I joined Literacy First, a reading program that provides intensive and effective tutoring to advance kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students. Through this experience, I discovered that I love working with children and watching them grow and learn. I worked for Literacy First for three years, two at Wooldridge Elementary and one at Harris Elementary. I also volunteered and worked at the Boys & Girls Club at Wooldridge for three years. I am so excited to be joining the kindergarten team and am looking forward to a wonderful school year!

I was born in Central Mexico. My Father was from the United States, so I grew up in both the United States and Mexico, and very bilingual.
I attended public school in Texas and High school in Mexico and Ohio. I studied Fine Arts and have my BFA from University of Houston. After some time, I moved to New York, with a dream to be an artist in an art world. I then decided that my bilingual abilities would be better applied if I entered the Education fields. So I enrolled in Hunter College in the City of New York and earned my Master’s degree in Educational Sciences with a minor of Bilingual Education.
I worked for a Children’s Museum and a Parent Center for Educational Advocacy. I later decided to enter the public school systems only to find that New York no longer had bilingual classes. It was then decided to move back to Texas where I knew I could find Bilingual Programs.
I worked for 11 years for Goose Creek CISD in the Houston area as a Kinder teacher, Pre-k teacher and First grade teacher. I love math, science, reading books, running afterschool art clubs and UIL competitions. My favorite hobby is anything Artsy or Space Science related. I also love nature walks, photography and listening to all kinds of music.
I moved to Austin for the people, the art, and the hills. I am looking forward to getting to know our Campus Family and teaching in the Kinder Bilingual/Dual Language programs. I am so happy to be here!
I know we will have an amazing year!
